Lemongrass Tea - Make and Enjoy a Super
Tasty, Super Healthy Cup of Herbal Tea

Most often used in Thai stir fries and Oriental cooking, it may be a surprise to know you can use it to make lemongrass tea. And not only does it a make a tasty beverage, it also has a whole host health benefitsMaking your own takes a bit more time than a regular herbal tea but in about 15 minutes you'll be enjoying a super healthy tea with many medicinal and well-being uses that come along with it! So, if you're into making homemade spiced and herbal teas then give this one a try! (See the bottom of the page for more homemade mixes, seasonings and blends)

What You'll Need: (makes 2 cups)

4 lemongrass stalks
A piece of fresh ginger root for grating
Optional sweetener e.g honey/sugar/agave nectar etc
Enough water for 2½ cups (Some water will evaporate during simmering)

Directions:

  • In a pan, bring the water to a boil
  • Meanwhile, chop the bottom off the lemongrass stalks and remove the outer leaves
  • Now place the stalks on a tea towel and fold over
  • Using a heavy object bash the stalks so they break down a bit. A meat tenderizer or rolling pin are good for bashing
  • Roughly chop the bashed stalks and set aside for a moment
  • Grate about 2 tablespoons worth of ginger root
  • Add the lemongrass and ginger to your pan, replace the lid, turn down the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes
  • After simmering give a quick stir
  • Finally, strain into your cups, and if using, stir in the sweetener

That's it! Serve and enjoy.
