Although this is an apple pie spice recipe, it works well with all your favourite kinds of desserts! In addition to homemade apple pie of course, it'll add tons of flavour and mouthwatering aromas to numerous puddings, pastries, cakes and cookies. And using a simple blend of whole and ground ingredients, in can be made in just minutes! (See the bottom of the page for links to more of my recipes)
What You'll Need: (makes about 5-6 tablespoons)
3
tbsp coriander seeds
2 tbsp allspice berries
1 tbsp ginger powder
2 tsp nutmeg powder
1 tsp whole cloves
3 inch piece cinnamon stick
3 mace blades (optional)
tbsp = tablespoon
tsp = teaspoon
Directions:
Store your apple pie spice recipe in an airtight jar, in a cool place and out of direct sunlight. Use within 3 months before
making a fresh lot.
Ingredient Note: For the best flavours, I recommend using a few whole ingredients when making this recipe. However, if you don't have whole available you can simply use pre-ground powders and reduce the amounts the recipe requires by half. For example, for 2 tablespoons of whole allspice berries you would use 1 tablespoon of pre-ground allspice. Reduce any others you don't have whole by half as well and stir in with any other powders when making.
