This seasoned salt recipe makes a delicious and healthy change from the usual processed stuff. With a blend of salt and various spices and herbs, it only takes minutes to make and will season your food perfectly and add sublime flavours. For the best results make sure to use quality sea, rock or kosher variety. You can also use flakes if that's what you have to hand. (See the bottom of the page for other recipes)
What You'll Need: (makes about 8-9 tablespoons)
8 tbsp sea, rock or kosher salt (or any other variety)
2 tbsp coriander seeds
2 tbsp dried rosemary
1 tbsp black peppercorns
1 tbsp dried chervil (optional)
4 tsp dried basil
2 tsp cumin seeds
2 tsp chili powder (hot or mild)
2 tsp paprika powder
1 tsp mustard powder
5-6 dried bay leaves
tbsp = tablespoon
tsp = teaspoon
Directions:
Store your salt seasoning in a cool place in an airtight jar out of direct sunlight. Use within 3 months before making a fresh amount.
Note: If you have time, I recommend dry toasting the whole coriander, cumin and peppercorns before cooling, grinding and combining with the other ingredients. The heat releases fab flavours and aromas.

Ingredient Note: I recommend using a few whole ingredients for this seasoning salt as these will add the best flavour. If you don't have them all whole, just use pre-ground powders and reduce the quantities the recipe requires by half. So, instead of 2 tablespoons of coriander seeds you would use 1 tablespoon of pre-ground coriander. Reduce any others you don't have whole by half as well and stir in with the other powders when making.
